Mobb Deep's Prodigy's trial for handgun possession has started in New York.Police stopped the G-Unit member's Chevy Suburban last October, after they witnessed Prodigy driving the opposite direction on a one way street, in an attempt to secure a parking spot in the Chelsea district of Manhattan.
Two plainclothes officers testified that they pulled over the armored SUV around 2:00 am last Octobe after witnessing Prodigy and passenger/producer The Alchemist make the illegal turn.
Both officers testified they witnessed Prodigy place his hand on an open console, where police allegedly found a loaded handgun.
Police said they had the right to search the car due to the hand motions of Prodigy and because of the SUV's heavily armored doors and reinforced windows.
Prodigy claims he had no idea the gun was in the compartment.
He already has two felony convictions.
A third conviction could land him in prison for up to 15-years.
Gun charges against The Alchemist were dismissed, while Prodigy will start his defense tomorrow.
